Bird Stories in Venice consists of 184 individually cut aluminium panels based on tracking data from 46 birds moving across Venice and its lagoon. Four different forms were developed from the recorded movements of each bird, translating their flight paths into physical shapes.
The panels are digitally cut from aluminium and mounted directly onto the windows using suction cups. The shapes are based on the birds’ natural movements, recorded through tracking technology and then interpreted and transformed through digital production. In this process, the work connects the natural movement of the birds with the technical systems used to record and reproduce it.
